Rules and Guidelines for RolePlaying

Post by Admin on Sun Oct 04, 2015 8:48 pm

These are subject to change as the staff sees fit.

1.Guidelines/Rules that apply to the site in general apply here as well.

2.Players can't start roleplaying in the story until their characters are approved by the Admin or the Moderator assigned. Please submit your character profiles in the Character submission board.

3.No Text Talk in the actual Role Play forums. This is things like LOL, BRB, ect. If you want to abbreviate a characters name during your post, please let staff know so we can change the settings so you can post initials that will be translated to the full name. This will only be applied to long names.

4.You can go PG-18, but put up a warning that the thread is 18+!!

5.While we understand every player has a life offline, please try to check in and post every few days to keep activity up. And let us know when you won't be able to post for more than a few days, and please talk with someone else in the storyline to possibly NPC your character(s), or come up with a good excuse for why they are gone while you're out.

6.When you RP with multiple players, the common curtasy is to "take turns".
The only exeption can be if one of the players is absent for a couple of days. Try to contact him/her if it is alright to RP a little untill they are able to catch up. (See #5)

7.If you bring more then one character in one RP, please put your text for your characters in one post. Usually that is done by using a different color and paragraph. Add the name of the character in the paragraphs.

8.No new boards will be created for Rps. There are boards set up for the Storylines to be played out in. In those boards you can start new threads. If you have suggestions for a new RParea, please pm the admin!

9.Keep OOC posts in the OOC threads.

10.No doubling posting. If by chance you double post, please delete the double or ask a moderator or the assigned moderator delete it.

11.No Godmodding, Meta Gaming or Bogarting!
Here are the definitions for God modding and Meta Gaming:

God Modding: Making one's character god like. They have no limits or boundaries. Examples: Can't be harmed or killed by other players' characters. Killing or injuring other players' characters without permission. Using other players' characters without permission.
Meta Gaming: Having your character know about future events that have not occurred yet. As in it's the use of out of game information.
Bogarting: Stealing the scene every time they enter the room like the Bogart actor while he's in chara. Actually Bogarting is meant as hogging something from others instead of sharing the thing in meantion, cigarette, scene, as it is slang, it has altered in point of subject but means some subject matteris being hogged and not shared.

In RP sense, it would mean controlling another player's chara without permission from owner of that said chara(s) more than once or twice (within reason or in small movements like brushing hair behind an ear or stopping a hand from swinging at you is not seen as Bogarting or GMing, but otherwise), not fair.

12.If your character is sending, it should be marked by a * * asterick on either side of what they are sending, so everyone will understand it is opensending, if it is a locksend use ** **, otherwise it will be considered open for anyone to hear.

13.When a storyline in a section has ended, a banner must be put after the last post to mark it as ended. This will allow multiple storylines to take place in the same thread with less confusion. Below is the code for the banner, simply copy and paste.

CODE:

14.If you wish for your character to recognize, please submit a comment saying so in the Recognitions List thread. Characters will be randomly choosen to recognize at points decided on by the staff, or allowed if two players want their characters to recognize. If you do NOT wish your character to recognize, again make a comment in the same thread and it will be noted.

15.You are free to use any NPC in the NPC thread, but please do not make a post centered around them. They are secondary characters. So please only make posts that is mainly focused on your own official character.

YOU MUST R&U THESE RULES BEFORE POSTING IN THE STORY. APPROVAL WILL NOT BE GIVEN FOR CHARACTER PROFILES TILL A PLAYER HAS R&U'D

When you break the guidelines, there will be consequences.

The first occurrence: A warning will be given

Second time: a 7 day ban from the site

Third time: A one month ban from the site

Fourth time: a permanent ban from the site.
